May is always our preferred time of the year to do a trip in Africa, especially the hotter Kalahari area. This time we decided to stay over at van Zylsrus Hotel and booked an early morning trip to a nearby meerkat sanctuary. This was the first time for us to spend close-up time with these amazing animals, just a wonderful experience.
On day one in Kgalagadi, we had a cheetah kill at Houmoed water hole. The poor springbok ram nearly hit our Disco 4 and in the process lost a second or two, enough for the cheetah to make the kill next to our vehicle.
